Treatment of Pain
Xenole 375mg Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Naproxen and Esomeprazole which relieve pain.
Esomeprazole reduces gastrointestinal side effects from naproxen. This combination significantly decreases the occurrence of gastric ulcers and NSAID-associated upper GI adverse events compared to naproxen alone. Common side effects include gastrointestinal issues like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. Serious but rare side effects include peptic ulcers, GI bleeding, hypertension, and cardiac failure.
Xenole 375mg Tablet consists of an immediate-release esomeprazole magnesium layer and an enteric-coated naproxen core. Esomeprazole is released first into the stomach, followed by naproxen in the small intestine.
Naproxen is an NSAID with analgesic and antipyretic properties that inhibits prostaglandin synthesis. Esomeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that suppresses gastric acid secretion by inhibiting the H+/K+-ATPase in gastric parietal cells, thereby reducing gastric acidity.
Carefully weigh the benefits and risks before deciding to use this medication. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration consistent with individual treatment goals. If a total daily dose of esomeprazole lower than 40 mg is needed, consider a different treatment.
